Melissa Noel is an award-winning journalist and content creator with proven impact at the intersections of media entrepreneurship, sustainable travel and cultural advocacy. As well as being a proud Guyanese American based between New York City and the Eastern Caribbean region.

She is known for reporting and producing dynamic content which centers on the news and issues impacting the African-American Community and Caribbean region. As an independent television correspondent and producer, Noel has covered breaking news and feature stories across the United States and the Caribbean region for outlets including One Caribbean Television, CBS News USVI and ABC News USVI.

Her work has been featured on a variety of networks and publishings including HuffPost, Caribbean Beat Magazine, “Good Morning America” and many others.

During her tenure as a contributing reporter to NBC News, she reported and
produced two innovative and award-winning story series, ‘Black and Undocumented’
centered on the legal battles of undocumented Black immigrants in the U.S. and ‘Love In A Barrel’ about Jamaica’s ‘Barrel Children’, Caribbean migration and mental health.

Noel’s commitment to bringing attention to often-underreported stories has earned her several accolades. She was named a 30 under 30 Caribbean American emerging leader as well as the inaugural recipient of the “Best Feature By A Diaspora Journalist” award by the Caribbean Tourism Organization.

She has been currently working with the center’s education programming, teaching students in classrooms around the world and sits on the Pulitzer Center’s Campus Consortium Advisory Council.

Noel was a Summa Cum Laude graduate of Howard University where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in broadcast journalism and Caribbean studies. She holds a Master of Arts degree in journalism from The City University of New York (CUNY) Graduate School of Journalism, where she specialized in broadcast media and urban reporting.
