Chantal Innocent

Vice President of Human Resources
Amida Care

Chantal Innocent began working at the New York nonprofit community health plan Amida Care as Director of Human Resources in 2013, building the department and establishing many new organizational processes and best practices. She was appointed as Vice President of Human Resources in 2018. She has led several committees at Amida Care, including the Wellness Committee and the Diversity and Inclusion Committee. In her work with the latter, she spearheaded training and other educational activities to improve employee engagement and help staff bridge cultural differences. She also works with her Executive Team colleagues on various diversity and inclusion initiatives that inform and support organizational leadership and strategic planning, including a series of conversations on race and racial trauma.

Innocent has also led Amida Care’s Culture Transformation program, bringing together employees with the goal of increasing cross-departmental learning and collaboration to promote Amida Care’s growth as a high-performing organization. In addition, in August 2020, she drove the formation of Amida Care’s Racial Equity and Inclusion Work Group. As co-chair of the group, she directed the development of a three-year plan that will help Amida Care to actively build on its work to become an anti-racist organization. She has been currently leading implementation of the plan, which has outlined specific actions to promote and foster diversity, equity and inclusion for Amida Care employees at all levels.

Before coming to Amida Care, Innocent worked at Harlem United for 11 years, most recently as Assistant Vice President of Human Resources. She built the department from the ground up, managing all aspects of Human Resources.
Born in Haiti, Innocent moved to the U.S. at the age of three with her family. She has worked in the not-for-profit field since 2001, when she relocated to New York from Miami. Her focus has been on working in the community for the underserved; being a voice for employees, and supporting those who want to do their best.
She lives in New Jersey with her husband and daughter.
