Jan Burman is President of Engel Burman, a fully integrated real estate company. Jan brings a distinct style and personal sensitivity to real estate development. His unique insight allows him to spot hidden opportunities and anticipate market trends that may go unseen by others. His keen perception has paid off by delivering value for partners, adaptive reuse of underutilized properties and outstanding developments, and portfolios for tenants and buyers.

With an MBA in Finance from Syracuse University, Jan initially started out as a CPA. Eventually, he was drawn to real estate where he started purchasing foreclosed and corporate-surplus properties. He later added residential development to his portfolio and raised the bar in assisted living development with The Bristal Assisted Living communities, which now total 23 with more planned. The Bristal introduced high-quality, care-focused, amenity-filled filled communities to the market.

Jan is actively involved in both the business and philanthropic communities having held many board positions, contributing time and resources, and being recognized for his leadership. Currently he serves on the board of directors of the United Nations Development Corporation, St. Francis Hospital, and the Community Development Corporation of Long Island, and the advisory board of the Nassau County Police Department Foundation.
