Dr. Eric Lella, DO is a board-certified Family Medicine Physician with specialization in Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine.
As an Osteopathic Physician, his focus is on treating the whole person as an interconnected unit: mind, body and spirit; enhancing the body’s inherent ability to heal itself. He also has a professional certification in Integrative Medicine and can use many non-pharmacologic and other complimentary holistic treatments for common acute complaints and other chronic illnesses.
When practicing Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine he is able to diagnose and manually treat many musculoskeletal complaints, most commonly conditions such as low back pain, sciatica, neck pain, other joint pains, and TMJ dysfunction. This treatment is referred to as Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT) and can also be useful for patients with other conditions like headaches, migraines, ear infections, respiratory tract infections, asthma, digestive issues, and lymphedema.
Additionally, Dr. Lella has a special interest in preventive medicine and primary care for LGBTQ+ individuals. In line with Stony Brook Medicine and Stony Brook Southampton Hospital’s LGBTQ+ Healthcare Equality Leadership designation, Dr. Lella is committed to review, address and affirm the specific and unique healthcare needs of LGBTQ+ individuals. Through The Edie Windsor Healthcare Center, Dr. Lella provides comprehensive medical care that includes routine primary care, research and understanding of medical conditions that are more common among LGBTQ+ individuals. The Center offers appropriate preventative screenings based on specific needs and collaboration with other subspecialists to provide multidisciplinary care in a respectful and culturally sensitive environment.
