Najay Roache

Director of State Government Affairs
Charter Communications

Najay Roache is the Director of State Government Affairs of Charter Communications. Born in St. Elizabeth Parish, Jamaica, Roache emigrated to the U.S. just shy of her 5th birthday.

Roache began her career in government with the New York State Assembly and during a decade-long tenure, she held various roles in public policy, budget analysis and legislative communications. In 2015, she was appointed as Deputy Press Secretary and Speechwriter by Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie and served in that role before moving back to New York City in 2018 to pursue new opportunities in government relations.

Before she joined the Charter team, she served as Deputy Assistant Director of Intergovernmental Relations at the NYC Mayor’s Office of Management and Budget. Here, she guided the agency’s state legislative and budget engagement.

She is a proud graduate of New York City public schools and an alumnae from Utica College. Roache has credited her time in the Mohawk Valley for her enduring love of scenic drives and all things New York.

“I am honored to receive the Caribbean Impact award. To be recognized by such an esteemed publication, one that I always look forward to reading whenever I visit my favorite shops and restaurants, means the world. My island and culture are an inextricable part of who I am. There is a direct thread between our rich history, belief in hard work, and everything my parents worked so hard to instill in me. Thank you to Caribbean Life, my parents, and of course, to Charter Communications for allowing me to do the work I love.” said Roache.

Roache has also credited her parents for all their sacrifices to provide for her life and education. Though she is a long way from the lush and beautiful hillsides of Roses Valley, she has and will always be a country girl at heart.
