Rose Green is currently the New York State Nurses Association (NYSNA) Release Time Representative NYC H+H/Elmhurst and Queens Hospitals as well as Community Care. She has also been serving as the Co-Chair of Joint Labor Management NYC H+H/Elmhurst, Trustee NYSNA, and chairperson of NYSNA Grievance Committee.
In her role as NYSNA Release Time Representative at Queens, Elmhurst, and Community Care since 2017, Green has provided leadership to over 2,000 nurses. She has been responsible for NYSNA Local Bargaining Unit at Elmhurst and has served as the President for 3 years.
Green has also Co-chaired the Joint Labor Management committee with CEO Israel Rocha, where together, they solve issues and build strategic alliances to benefit all labor partners as well as management. Some of the working committees include Co-Chair Environmental Committee, Co-Chair Patience Experience, Payroll Task force, Interpersonal Committee, and Women’s concerns and Men’s concerns.
During the COVID pandemic, Green has provided tremendous leadership to nurses on the front lines, holding NYS and NY City elected officials’ feet to the fire to ensure PPE and other supplies required to safely care for patients was provided. She rounded with staff and management almost daily to ensure the front line workers’ every need was met. In addition, Green was present early in the morning distributing breakfast and late into the evening handing out dinner. She also advocated for social justice and championed Black Lives Matter and Social Justice rallies in Queens and Elmhurst.
Prior to this appointment as NYSNA Representative, Green served as a registered nurse at Elmhurst in the Emergency Room for 17 years. She also served as an Adjunct Clinical Instructor at LaGuardia Community College 2011-2020 and has been pursuing her Doctor of Nurse Practice (DNP) Degree Program Healthcare System Leadership (HSL) Specialty Track for Registered Nurses with a master’s degree in Nursing. Green is of Jamaican descent.
