am Athena Castro, I am 31 year’s old and live in Westbury, NY with my husband and three children. I am currently the CEO of YASA, which is a program that supports developmentally disabled adults. Our Day program offers the opportunity to build life skills, and help them reach their personal goals. I started working at YASA in 2018. Prior to YASA, I was the Director of a daycare center in Westbury. My life passion has always been to help others. Here at YASA, I am given the opportunity to help these ladies and gentlemen reach their maximum potential. To see their happy faces every day when I walk into work is the best part of my day. While working at YASA I was also part of the committee that founded the YASA Made With Love Foundation. At YASA Made with Love Foundation, we raise funds and help Families, Children and Individuals with Disabilities, whether it’s a new wheel chair that they can’t afford, or any day to day necessities that they need and just can’t provide for themselves. My whole life I have always wanted to be a part of a greater good, and help others. I have three children, Two boys and a girl, and my husband and I always preach to them how lucky they are to have what they have and we need to be humble and help others. It’s not about what you have, it’s about what you can do to help others and bring a smile to their faces. Objects lose value, get broken, and get lost, however a memory for someone’s life you touched, will be forever.
