I was born and raised in The Bronx and began my career in law in 1975 as a legal secretary. I then became a paralegal and worked my way through college and law school. In 1984 I received my Doctorate of Law from Pace Law School and was admitted to the bar on March 25, 1985. I was the first in my family to go to college and become a professional.

I have been practicing law in the area of plaintiff’s personal injury for 35 years, the last 22 years as a partner and business owner in Spiegel & Barbato, LLP on Westchester Square in The Bronx. Our office is located in the neighborhood where I grew up, and that is part of the reason why I love what I do.

For the past 35 years, I have been active in the courts as a practicing trial
attorney specializing in negligence cases on behalf of injured plaintiffs. I have conducted many trials resulting in numerous six and seven figure settlements and verdicts and am especially skilled in the art of negotiation. I am dedicated to The Bronx community and believe that everyone deserves the representation of an attorney who is not only experienced, but also concerned, compassionate and empathetic.

I am a Past President and active member of the Board of Directors of the Bronx County Bar Association and recently helped to establish their Women’s Alliance Committee. I am a founding member of the Bronx Advocates for Justice, on the Board of Directors of the Thurgood Marshall Junior Mock Trial Program, and a member of the New York State Trial Lawyers Association, Bronx Women’s Bar Association and the Women’s Bar Association of the State of New York.
