My name is Rebecca Hemick, I am 27 years old and was born & raised in The Bronx. I graduated from Lehman college in 2019 with a bachelor degree in film and television. Currently I am the producer of The Bronx Buzz and a production assistant for OPEN BXRx Tuesday on Bronxnet television.
My journey with Bronxnet began back in 2018 as a video editor intern, then in the start of 2019 I was interning as a production crew member until I was officially hired later that year to be apart of the production crew in Lehman college. During the pandemic I was offered the position of producer and jump at the opportunity. Working with Bronxnet has been an amazing opportunity for me. When I first started interning at Bronxnet I couldn’t have imagined where this was going to take me. I am honored and delighted to be able to provide a platform for my fellow Bronx Community.
BronxNet came from dedicated Bronx officials, who worked with residents to create a fully equipped television station and media center that would be accessible to Bronx residents, students, community organizations and leaders. BronxNet went on air in July 1993. BronxNet has been headquartered at Lehman College since its inception. Another fully equipped state-of-the-art facility was launched at Mercy College in the Hutchinson Metro Center in 2015. The Bronx Buzz is a reporters’ roundtable offering multiple points of view on local topics and issues. And is also a weekly program geared towards providing a platform for filmmakers, authors and other creatives that put out content in the Bronx.
