As Vice President of Growth Properties for the Long Island Nets and NetsGC, Alton Byrd oversees strategic business and operational activities for the Long Island Nets, NBA G League team of the Brooklyn Nets and NetsGC of the NBA 2K League. Byrd led the launch of Long Island’s inaugural season at Barclays Center in Brooklyn in 2016-17 and the Long Island Nets permanent move to Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum, on Long Island in 2017.

Prior to joining the Long Island Nets in 2016, Byrd accumulated over 25 years of sports and brand marketing experience as a professional basketball player, coach, entrepreneur and business executive. He most recently served as Chief Revenue Officer for the Atlanta Dream of the WNBA where he grew the team’s sponsorship, merchandise and ticket sales.
Byrd played professional basketball for Crystal Palace Basketball Club in London, and at 25 became the first person of color to become General Manager of a British sports organization, the Murray International Metals Sports Organization in Edinburgh, Scotland. Byrd led Murray International to four British championships, five Scottish championships, and the team’s first ever appearance in the second round of the European Champions Basketball Cup.

Byrd is a board member of Long Island Association. Nassau PAL honored him for his community contributions in 2018; and he was an honoree for the NCC Foundation’s 17th Annual Golf Outing in support of Nassau Community College. Byrd was inducted into the 2018 Class Legends of Ivy League Basketball and named Columbia Men’s Basketball Alumni of the Year in 2019.
