Anita Polkowska is the owner of Spa27, born and raised in Gdańsk, Poland; in 1999, she made the United States home for herself and her young daughter. Polkowska and her daughter Nicole made the life-changing move with only $500 in hand and hope for a better life. Polkowska started her professional career as an esthetician in a Sag Harbor spa one year after arriving in the U.S. Some years later, in 2006, Polkowska opened her first beauty salon with only a few nail technicians and herself doing waxing. In those lean years, Polkowska was manager, front desk receptionist, cosmetologist, and every role in between. Today, a decade into the business, Polkowska is more than owner and operator; Spa27 has expanded its locations, services, and estheticians. Polkowska believes her deep belief in self-empowerment and self-actualization as a woman is the driving force that sustains her ambitious and industrious life and career.
