Fred W. Thiele, Jr. is a New York State Assemblyman representing New York’s 1st Assembly District which includes the Towns of East Hampton, Southampton, Shelter Island, and southeastern Brookhaven.
A lifelong resident of Sag Harbor, Mr. Thiele graduated from Pierson High School, and attended Cornell University, Southampton College, and Albany Law School.
Mr. Thiele has served as Southampton Town Attorney, Suffolk County Legislator, Southampton Town Supervisor, and Sag Harbor Village Attorney.
In 1995, Mr. Thiele was elected to the New York State Assembly and has been re-elected ever since.
Mr. Thiele is Chairman of the Assembly Local Governments Committee and serves on the following Assembly Committees: Rules, Environmental Conservation, Oversight, Analysis and Investigation, and Transportation. He is also a member of the Assembly Majority Steering Committee.
