Kelly Albanese Scherer is the Executive Director of the Good Samaritan Hospital Foundation in West Islip, NY. As Executive Director of the Foundation, Scherer oversees all philanthropic efforts on behalf of Good Samaritan Hospital, including the design and conduct of comprehensive development strategies for donors, campaigns and ongoing fundraising efforts.

Scherer works in lockstep with hospital administration and clinical leaders to align the organization’s most critical strategic priorities with grateful patient interests while enhancing patient care and advancing programs through philanthropy.

Over the course of her career, Scherer has positioned the non-profit organizations that she has served for sustainable growth and has raised more than $50 million from corporate and private funders. She has had the privilege of directing capital campaigns and fundraising initiatives for non-profit organizations in New York, Pennsylvania, Indiana and Canada.

Scherer holds a Bachelor’s degree from Iona College where she graduated with honors. She has authored blogs and presented on topics related to fundraising and communications, and has facilitated trainings on fundraising for CCS Fundraising, CUNY (City University of New York), Bank of America, Women’s Fund of Long Island, and New York University’s Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service. Scherer has also been an active volunteer and served on the boards of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) New York City and Long Island Chapters.

Scherer lives in Huntington Station with her husband, Mike, and two boys Michael (5) and Finley (3).
