Marcia R. Gardner, PhD, RN, CPNP, CPN, ANEF is Dean of the Barbara H. Hagan School of Nursing and Health Sciences at Molloy College, Rockville Centre, NY. With more than 35 years of experience in nursing education, she has held faculty and academic administration appointments at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of NJ, Drexel University, Rutgers University, and Seton Hall University, prior to coming to Molloy College, and has been involved in nursing education in programs across all levels from pre-licensure through doctoral. Her clinical background is in neonatology and pediatrics, most specifically related to developmentally vulnerable infants and children with special healthcare needs, and their parents. She has researched, presented, and published findings on family-related issues in developmental disabilities and autism, mothering, and nursing education. She has co-authored two books: Nursing of Autism Spectrum Disorder, an innovative nursing textbook on lifespan care of individuals with autism, and the Handbook of Clinical Teaching in Nursing and Health Sciences, winner of the Journal of Nursing Education “Top Teaching Tools” award, along with authoring book chapters, journal publications and presentations related to nursing education, faculty issues, and developmental vulnerabilities and disabilities.
A graduate of Georgetown University, NYU, and the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing, she additionally completed a LEND fellowship at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and the Pediatric Bioethics Certificate Program at Children’s Mercy Hospital-University of Missouri Kansas City Medical School. She is a fellow of the New York Academy of Medicine and the NLN Academy of Nursing Education, She was honored as NJ March of Dimes Academic Educator Nurse of the Year, and has received a variety of awards for teaching excellence.
