Rick Lewis

CEO
Mid Island Y JCC, Suffolk YJCC

Rick Lewis has been the CEO of the Mid Island Y JCC since February, 2013 and the Suffolk YJCC since July, 2019.
Prior to joining the MIYJCC, Lewis spent thirty years working at the Samuel Field YM&YWHA (SFY) in Queens, NY. Lewis started out working as a camp counselor and ended his 30 years as the Associate Executive Director, a position which encompassed overseeing the agency’s 30 off-site programs, agency operations and much of the agencies daily programming.
In his tenure at the SFY, Lewis was instrumental in the merger with Camp Poyntelle Lewis Village and managing the operations of the Central Queens YM&YWHA, both UJA-Federation agencies that were struggling to maintain their operations. Today both organizations are thriving and given his past success, Lewis was tasked with taking over the struggling Suffolk Y JCC. Lewis has been instrumental in changing the culture, overhauling programming and raising much-needed funds to strengthen and renovate several JCC’s.
Lewis has an MBA from Adelphi University and has completed the institute for Not-For-Profit Management from Columbia University. Lewis also was President of the Northeast Region of the Association of Jewish Center Professionals, was Professional of the Year in 2004 and Businessperson of the year in 2018.
Lewis lives in Plainview with his wife, Ariann, and their three children, Zachary, Jordana and Jake.
