Seymour Liebman is Executive Vice President, Chief Administrative Officer and General
Counsel of Canon U.S.A., Inc., Senior Managing Executive Officer of Canon Inc., Japan and Chairman of BriefCam, Ltd. Mr. Liebman joined the Canon U.S.A. Accounting Division in 1974 as a Manager and was promoted to Vice President in 1987. In 1989, he established the in-house legal department at Canon U.S.A., where he currently oversees almost 50 in-house attorneys including intellectual property attorneys. In 1996, he was promoted to Executive Vice President and General Manager for Administration and Regional Operations as well as being named General Counsel.
In addition to these positions, Mr. Liebman was appointed Chief Administrative Officer in 2008. He oversees all legal affairs and corporate administration functions for Canon Americas.

From 2011-2012, Mr. Liebman was President of Canon Information and Imaging Solutions, a wholly owned subsidiary dedicated to expanding what was formerly Canon’s overall solutions business, comprised of software and service offerings.
In July 2018, Mr. Liebman was appointed Chairman of BriefCam, Ltd., which provides solutions for rapid review and search of surveillance video.

Mr. Liebman was the first non-Japanese Canon executive to be appointed an Executive Officer of Canon Inc. in Japan by the Company’s shareholders and Board of Directors in 2009. In 2013 Mr. Liebman was promoted to Senior Executive Officer of Canon Inc., and in 2016, he was promoted to Senior Managing Executive Officer of Canon Inc.
Mr. Liebman is a member of the Board of Directors of T2 Biosystems Inc., a public company in Boston, for which he negotiated Canon’s purchase of 19.9% of the company. He is also a member of the Board of Directors for Spartan Bioscience, Inc. in Ottawa, Canada. Mr. Liebman formerly served on the Board of Directors of Zygo Corporation and on the Supervisory Board of Directors of Océ in Venlo, Holland. Additionally, Mr. Liebman serves on the Board of Governors of the Touro Law Center, is vice chairman of the Long Island Association, a member of the Board of Directors of the Information Technology Industry Council and a member of the Council of Overseers for the Tilles Center. He is also a member of the Melville Employment Center
Advisory Committee.

Mr. Liebman was appointed by New York Governor Andrew Cuomo to the
Long Island Regional Development Council and the New York State Life Science Advisory Board, and is a Hall of Fame Platinum Member of the Long Island Press “Power List.’’

Mr. Liebman earned his Bachelor of Arts in mathematics from Hofstra University, a Master’s Degree in mathematics from Rutgers University, a Master’s Degree in accounting from Long Island University and a JD from Touro Law School. He received an Honorary Doctorate from Hofstra University and gave the keynote address at graduation in May 2016. He is a Certified Public Accountant and an Attorney admitted in New York, New Jersey and Washington, D.C. Mr. Liebman resides in West Hempstead, New York, with his wife, Mindy. They have four children: Andrea, Diane, Marc and Erica and twelve grandchildren.
