Todd S. Shapiro is the President/CEO of Todd Shapiro Associates Public Relations, one of the region’s most well-respected and time-tested public relations firms. After forming the agency that bears his name, Shapiro quickly became known as one of the best names in the business, while also holding the distinction as one of the youngest principals in the trade.
Often quoted for running a Manhattan-style public relations agency on Long Island, Shapiro got his early experience in the capacities of Press Secretary for high-profile Suffolk County Executive Bob Gaffney and later as a Vice President of Howard Rubenstein Associates.
Shapiro’s practice is headquartered in New York City with several offices in both Nassau and Suffolk counties. Shapiro’s clientele includes public figures, business leaders, medical professionals, first responders and emergency services, elected officials and municipalities and political campaigns. Shapiro’s strategic understanding of the media cycle coupled with over 30-years experience has made him among the most trusted names in public relations, crisis management and media relations.
Shapiro has served in various charitable capacities throughout his career, including but not limited to, Vice Chair of the United States Marines Toys for Tots, an Executive Board Member of the Nassau County Centennial Parade Committee, Member of the Long Island Coalition for Fair Broadcasting FOLIO Luncheon Committee and the President and Founder of the Jericho Chamber of Commerce. Shapiro has routinely been recognized and for his continued contributions and success.
Some of Todd’s clientele has included in the past: New York State Democratic Chairman Jay Jacobs and the Nassau County Democrats, Rep. Carolyn Maloney, 77 WABC Radio, New York State’s two largest Villages, The Village of Hempstead and the Village of Freeport, respectively, the FDNY Firefighters Association and Fire Officers Associations, and the Suffolk and Nassau Police Benevolent Associations — among other clients. Shapiro writes a “Power Brokers” column each week in Dan’s Papers. Todd Shapiro’s agency has three offices, one in New York City and two on Long Island (in Jericho and Port Jefferson).
Shaprio started his career in Suffolk County politics, as a Director of Communications for the County Executive. Shapiro also rose through the ranks at Howard Rubenstein Associates to become a Vice President in his twenties, leaving to begin his own firm.
Shapiro is a co-Chairman of the NY/LI United States Marines Toys for Tots, President of the Jericho Chamber of Commerce, Associate Publisher of Dan’s Papers.
In the beginning of Shapiro’s career in private practice, he represented some properties owned and managed by Donald J. Trump in the late-90’s, the NewYork Islanders, the Long Island Association.
Shapiro recently wed Elizabeth Benard, a ceremony that was officiated by civil rights icon Rev. Al Sharpton.
