Yvette Greene Dennis

Founder/President
The Family Legacy Foundation, Inc.

Yvette Greene Dennis saw a need and helped fill it.
When the Pandemic hit, and food insecurity was at its highest, she was the “go-to” person in the community.
“My phone never stopped ringing,” she said, noting she donated food from her own freezer.
Then she took matters into her own hands and went to the local black-owned businesses to help.
From this was born The Family Legacy Foundation, Inc.
“Legacy is something you pass on,” she said. “For me, it’s bracelets from my grandmother and the sense of helping the community.”
And it’s the construction industry.
Today Greene Dennis is Executive Vice President of Program Management at Crescent Consulting, a firm that provides AA/EEO compliance management and consulting for companies in the construction industry.
She began in the industry at 16 when her father, Darryl E. Greene, allowed her to attend meetings with him and participate in construction site visits with her uncles. When Darryl found out that his only daughter was interested in this industry he arranged for her to get into the union and go to work in the field. Greene Dennis joined the elevator and escalators union. She was one of five women at that time. She was the second black female in the history of that union and the only black female at the time she joined.
Because her father dedicated his professional career to correcting the inherent wrongs that existed within the industry, including the exclusion of minorities and women from the skilled trade unions and from business opportunities, Greene Dennis was that much more determined to be a part of her father’s legacy as a staunch advocate for the underrepresented in the construction industry.

In her late 20’s Greene Dennis became a wife and mother and focused on creating and maintaining a productive life for her daughter. She would go on to become president of the PTA several times and eventually accept employment with NYC DOE as a parent coordinator.

But her first love was and still is economic development through construction. Greene Dennis remains active in construction and development through her work with Crescent Consulting, a leader in the design and implementation of programs for Minority and Women-Owned Business Enterprises in development projects throughout the state of New York.
