Wayne Joseph
Bridge and Tunnel Officers Benevolent Association
President
Wayne Joseph was elected President of the Bridge and Tunnel Officers Benevolent Association in 2011. Joseph was born June 18, 1970, in Brooklyn, NY, to Jerome and Lynette Joseph, who migrated to NY from Trinidad and Tobago. A proud father of four children, and grandfather of five, Joseph experienced adversity throughout much of his life and career. Such adversity would prepare him for his current role as the President of the Bridge And Tunnel Officers Benevolent Association.
Joseph began his employment with the Triborough Bridge and Tunnel Authority as a Temporary Bridge and Tunnel Officer in March of 1990. He started his career as a Permanent Bridge And Tunnel Officer in 1992 and was assigned to the Queens Midtown Tunnel. In 1999 Joseph ran for President of the association. In a turn of events, he was appointed to the Alternate Delegate position. In 2005 Joseph became the Chief Delegate of his command before stepping into the role of President the following year.
Despite the never-ending and tiring challenges of battling with the MTA to provide a better quality of life for members, Joseph remained available to his membership daily, never faltering or wavering throughout his tenure as President. Joseph’s full-force unshakeable commitment to workers’ rights is why he has run unopposed for two of his three terms as the President of the Bridge and Tunnel Officers Benevolent Association.
